Web Development

This is the primary service I offer, and I'm available for freelance work, but I'm also open to offers of full-time web employment. If you're an employer looking for a WordPress/Webflow developer, make sure to look through my projects, or just send me a message directly. If you're a business owner looking for a developer to help with your site, read on! We're about to get into the value I can offer you and your customers.

What is web development?

There are lots of people offering web-based services these days, so I think this is an important question to answer before anything else. At its basic root, web development means taking an existing design, and turning it into a web page. Whether that's through code, or configuring a WordPress theme and plugins, or using a no-code solution like Webflow, that's what I mean when I say I am a web developer. If you have an existing site, and you need someone to maintain it, or you need help configuring a theme/plugin that you've paid for, check out my section on Hosting/Maintenance services.

Step One: The Design

The first step to creating a web page is having a design drawn up beforehand. If you don't already have a design, then I can help you find a high-quality designer for your project. If you've already done that step, then you can hand me that design and we can start turning that into a web page! It's crucially important not to skip this step. I look at building a website like building a house; you have to have a detailed picture of how everything fits together first, or else it all falls apart.

Step Two: Domain/Hosting

Design in hand, it's time to find a place to park your website. Keep in mind that, at the end of the day, a website is simply a folder full of text, images, and sometimes video files. Those files have to be stored somewhere. The vast majority of people with websites store those files on someone else's computer, also known as a hosting provider. You also have to register your domain name. There are many options for hosting and domain registration, and you can even get both of those services from the same provider in many cases. The first two steps here can be done in either order, sometimes the design (or the domain registration) can take weeks or months, depending on your business. But strap in, because we're about to get to the good stuff.

Step Three: Building the site

This is where yours truly comes in! While I do a bit of design, and I'm certainly practiced at dealing with domain/hosting issues, this is my bread and butter right here. We have the design, and we have a place to put the site, so now I am going to build exactly what the design specifies. I will build your website on a staging site initially, and you will be able to see my work throughout the process. I will provide you with a written estimate of the work at this time (more on that later.) Development time will vary based on your business needs, but that will also be in the estimate. After the site is built, you just need to maintain it! Click here to see my pricing for maintenance.

You're in luck, because I'm offering reduced prices while I transition from agency work back to freelancing. For my next five clients, I am reducing my hourly rate, as well as the price for a simple site. Fill out the form below and take advantage of these discounted rates today!

A simple site is defined as a site that has six or fewer pages, and does not require users or any e-commerce. This site comes with a working contact form, custom design, and all the same one-on-one interaction that you get with any of my sites.

Whatever my rate of pay, I require a deposit of 50% when we sign the contract. For simple sites, the other 50% is due on completion of the site to your satisfaction. For all other sites, we will determine the payment schedule together. I track all my time, and you can have weekly reports on my progress if you wish.
